Virginia M. Ginny Long was born November 1, 1930 in Norfolk, Virginia to parents Luigi and Rose Vacca Farris. Ginny grew up in Brooklyn, New York where she graduated from Bay Ridge Girls High School in Brooklyn. On January 2, 1960, at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, New York, Ginny married Francis Frank Long. Together Frank and Ginny moved to Whittier, California where they have lived and raised their family for the last 55 years.
Virginia worked as a certified Teachers aid specializing in Elementary School Reading. In addition to her love for teaching young minds to read, Ginny enjoyed Ballroom Dancing, Crossword puzzles and loved Theatre and Music. She was also a member of The Red Hat Society and she and Frank have been dedicated long time Parishioners of St. Brunos Catholic Church in Whittier.
Ginny is survived by: Husband Francis Frank, Daughter; Patricia A. Hayashi and Husband Dale, Son; Robert F. Long and wife Barbara Crampton, Daughter; Margaret Rose Cremers and husband Alan. Grandchildren; Kathryn Rose, Daniel Arthur, Christopher Francis, Claire Michelle, Matthew Alan. Also survived by Sister and Brother in Law Josephine and Ben Dehn and Nephew Dan Dehn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Brunos Catholic Church in Whittier with Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights.
A reception will be held following the interment at Fountain of Life Community Church, 13518 Biola Ave. La Mirada, CA 90638.
