Tomasa G. Telles was born December 14, 1924, in New Mexico to Carlos and Juana Garcia. She passed away on August 28, 2018, in La Habra, California, at the age of 93.
As a young girl, Tomi, as she was affectionately known, moved to Los Angeles, California. She grew up and went to school there, graduating from Roosevelt High School. Shortly after graduation, Tomi went to work at Sears in downtown Los Angelesa career that spanned for over 40 years!
It was also at Sears that she met her husband, Rudolf Telles. They were married in June of 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and settled in Whittier, California, in 1955. Tomi and Rudy were blessed with two children, Steven and Annette.
Tomasa adored her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. A woman of great faith, she was very active at her church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in the Los Nietos area of Whittier, California, and she volunteered at PIH Health Hospital for 4 years.
Surviving Tomi are her children, Steven Telles and Annette Lomeli; grandchildren, Thomas, Eric and Victor Telles and Phillip, David, Angela, Cruz Jr., Emily, Sonny, and Ruben Lomeli; 12 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Irene De La Torre.
Viewing will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Phildelphia St., in Whittier, California, with a Catholic Vigil at 7pm. Mass will be celebrated at 9am the next morning, Friday, September 7, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Los Nietos (Whittier), California. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Rosemead, California.
