Theresa Alvarez

Theresa Alvarez, 55, passed away in Whittier, California on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Born on December 10, 1959, Theresa was born in Los Angeles, California to her parents, Jesse Sr., & Celia (Montes) Alvarez. She was a beloved sister and a wonderful daughter and she will be missed greatly by her family and friends.



Theresa lived her whole life in the greater Los Angeles area, including Pico Rivera and Santa Fe Springs. She was very involved in the Whittier Area Parents Association for the Developmentally Handicapped (WAPADH) which is an organization that stands for the belief that every person, regardless of physical or mental ability, regardless of earning power or productivity, is born with the same value. Outside of her involvement with WAPADH, Theresa was known for her deep love of her family.



Theresa is survived by her mother, Celia Alvarez; her siblings, Catherine Oliva, Dolores Oliva, Jesse Alvarez; 11 nieces & nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews.



A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at 10 AM at St. Hilarys Catholic Church, 5465 Citronell Ave., Pico Rivera. A Vigil will be held on Monday evening, September 28, 2015 at 7:00 PM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, with a Viewing from 6:00 PM 7:00 PM that evening. Interment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier.
