Rodriguez, Simon Jr. - Whittier, CA

April 23, 1941 - January 17, 2016



Surrounded by the love of daughter Julie, son Paul and their

families, Simon passed away on January 17, 2016. Born in Montebello,

CA to Simon Sr. and Frances Rodriguez, he along with his sisters Josie,

Angie, and Gloria grew up in El Monte. Simon graduated from

Montebello High School and married his high school sweetheart, Irene

(Hernandez). Together they raised Julie and Paul in Whittier, CA.

Simon was a hard worker often holding two jobs to support his

family. He worked as a warehouseman and would do painting jobs on

the weekend. Simon constantly thanked God for everything he had. His

hearty laugh was contagious and just by hearing it, we knew Simon was

near. Hed always answer with Awesome! when asked how he was

doing. He loved his tennis and horse racing, but his pride and joy was

his three grandsons, Anthony Madrigal, and Joshua and Daniel

Rodriguez.



Simon retired in 1996, devoting his time to his gardening (he loved

his lawn and roses), watching his tennis, studying the Racing Form, and

yelling at the T.V. when his teams didnt do well. Diagnosed with cancer,

Simon fought valiantly. His friends meant the world to him and we all

will miss Simon terribly.



On Monday, January 25, a Viewing and

Rosary is scheduled at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier, CA. The

Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 26 at Calvary Catholic

Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA. Burial immediately following.
