Seferino Duran Navarro Jr. was born May 5, 1934, on Terminal Island near San Pedro, California, to Seferino and Maria (Cruz) Navarro. He passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in Whittier, California.
Lefty, as he was known, grew up and went to school in Los Angeles County. He met and married the love of his wife, Angie Martinez, on February 19, 1966, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Los Nietos, California. They made their home in Santa Fe Springs, California, and have lived there ever since.
Professionally, Lefty worked construction installing pipeline. He worked hard to provide for his familyoften at great risk. In fact, he was buried in a trench multiple times and is lucky to have survived!
Lefty will be remembered as one who had a big heart and loved his family dearly. He was a great provider and offered a great deal of wisdom. Lefty also had an ornery side and wasnt afraid to use his fistsa skill honed as a rough and tough young man. He enjoyed watching western movies, dancing, and he thought life was better with a cigarette and a drink.
Survivors inlude his son, Ricky (Malissa) Navarro; sister, Esther Sotelo; and grandsons, Ricky Jr., Andrew, and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Angie; twin daughters (at birth), Mona and Lisa; and his son, Joey.
Viewing will begin at 10am on Friday, August 5, 2016, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia St., Whittier, California. A Catholic Prayer Service will begin at 11am, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 966 Potrero Grande Dr., Rosemead, California.
