Santina "Sandy" Dominick, age 84, passed away at her home in Brea, California after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 28th.
Sandy was born on September 13, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Nicolo Salvo and Giulia Carbone. She was very proud of her Italian heritage. Even though English was her first language she could read and speak Italian almost fluently. As a girl Sandy had rheumatic fever. At that point she began a love affair with art. While sick she would draw cartoons and caricatures. It wasn't until after she retired that she became serious about painting and started taking classes. She would go on to become an accomplished painter creating hundreds of paintings for family, friends and even selling a few. If there was one thing that she loved more than art it was her family. Sandy was one of the most caring and loving Nonna's a grandchild could have.
She is survived by her loving children Melba Torres and Paul Dominick; her grandchildren Alicia (Jaime) Sierra, Rick Morales, and Demetry (Kandace) Gutierrez; sisters Rose Mitchell and Toni Ellis; her great grandchildren Jazmine, Nickolas, Lexine, Brooke, Damian, Jordan, and Sofia; great-great grandchildren Adrian and Aiden; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to both of her parents she is preceded in death by her eldest son Nickolas Aguirre and two great granddaughters Anisette and Arabella Gutierrez.
Services and interment will be private and at a later date.
