September 25, 1943 October 30, 2019
Salvador Joseph Barragan, 76, passed away on October 30, 2019 in Rosemead, CA. Born on September 25, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA, Salvador was born to his parents, Carlos & Carmen (Macias) Barragan. He met his wife, Virginia Ceniceros while attending San Fernando High School and they were married on April 25, 1964 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in San Fernando, CA. Together they had two children, Salvador Joseph Barragan & Yvonne Virginia Barragan. He was a faithful man who loved God and his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Growing up in San Fernando, Salvador was one of eight siblings. With such a full household, Salvador began to distinguish himself at a young age with his interest in music. He took a particular liking to playing the Saxophone. He played the Saxophone in the marching band at his high school, San Fernando High School. As he became more accomplished in his love for music he went on to be the Conga player for his brothers group, Hector Barragan and The Arrangements. He also played the back-up Saxophone for the group.
Salvador was a carpenter by trade and was very good working with his hands. He also worked very closely in carpentry with his brothers doing mostly private jobs. He was also a very faithful & devoted man in his faith. For some time he was very involved at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Pacoima, CA. He also taught his kids how to pray the rosary, passing along a very important tradition to his children. He loved to cook for his family, Breakfast was his specialty; he was always volunteering in his community or at his church; and one of his most incredible traits was that he had a memory like an elephant.
Salvador is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Salvador (Carol) Barragan Jr. & Yvonne (Vincent) Ortiz; his grandchildren, Candice (Luke), Jennifer (Arnol), Albert, Vincent (Lacey) & Ryan; and his great-grandchildren, Luke, Emily, Noah, Everett, & Dawn Noelle arriving in December 2019.
