Ruth Fenn Haro
Ruth Haro was born Ruth Fenn Fralick on February 13, 1916 in Wichita Kansas.
She moved with her family to California when she was 3 years old. In 1921 they moved
to Whittier where she remained for most of her life.
Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her savior when she was in her early teens and became
a full fledged on fire evangelical Christian all of her life. She always told her parents
that she wanted to BURN OUT for the Lord, and she did.
She spent her college years at Biola with the dream of becoming a missionary to China.
However, because of health issues (Tuberculosis), her dream could not be fulfilled.
Instead, she met a cowboy from Iowa, Loren Scovel (a good Christian man) and they
married in 1938.
Even though she couldn't go to China, she continued to minister throughout her life.
She taught kindergarten classes at a Christian School, became the Director of the LA
School district Release Time project in the 1960's and was the Chaplain at Los Angeles
McLaren Hall where she led 100's of kids to Christ. After she retired she taught
numerous Bible studies to both young and old.
Aside from her great love for Christ and her family, music was her greatest passion. She
sang and played the piano as well as other instruments. She also was a wonderful poet.
In 2014 she wrote and published The Book of Daniel in Rhyme. Because Daniel is from
the Old Testament she felt she needed to share the gospel with the readers. After the
first publication she decided to give bookmarks with the passages from Romans 10:9-10
Loren died in 1984, and shortly thereafter she met and married Frank Haro. They
traveled a lot and she was able to see the world. She didn't make it to China though.
After Frank passed away in 2001 she moved to The Palms in La Mirada, CA. She sat on
the La Mirada city council as a senior member and continued her Christian ministry until
her death.
She is survived by her three children, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2
great great grandchildren.
