Ruth Esther Caputo was born on July 20, 1924 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania to Alexander and Anna Koehler as the youngest of five siblings. She was raised in Pennsylvania and graduated from Stowe High School.
In 1950, Ruth married Eugene Caputo, a friend she had known for many years. The couple soon moved to California where they raised their three children, Alexis, Eugene and Roy.
Ruth was involved in many organizations including the EBell Club of Fullerton, a non-profit service organization and the Whittier American Legion Auxiliary. She spent many years volunteering at Leffingwell Library and as a Blue Bird leader. Ruth was also a founding member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Whittier where she was involved and attended for many years.
Ruth passed away in Whittier, California the morning of December 4, 2013. She is survived by her three children Alexis Smart, Eugene Caputo and Roy Caputo, 9 grandchildren, Gabriel, Jacob, Adria, Dustin, Joel, Schuylar, Adam, Danielle and Alexis, 8 great-grandchildren Jade, Madison, Nathan, Dallan, Rio, Tyson, Macy and Cali, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at White Emerson Mortuary. There will be a viewing at 9:00, a Funeral Service at 10:00am followed by a reception at 10303 Scott Ave Whittier, CA 90603. The burial will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11:31am at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
