Ruth Alene Jordan was born on February 12, 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio to Dr. Herbert Leslie and Ethel Mary (Lennox) Plannette. As a two year old passenger in a Model-T, Ruth arrived to her long time home of Whittier, California in 1916.
As Ruth grew up in Whittier she attended school at William Penn, Jonathan Bailey, Whittier High School (where she graduated at the age of 16) and finally Whittier College where she received a Bachelors Degree in Life Science.
On September 30, 1938 Ruth married the love of her life, Ernest Jordan. The couple raised two children: Nancyb and Randy. She was a teacher for many years in the area. Ruths favorite part of life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She had many interests that included Gods natural world, camping, traveling and bridge. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitter - CCB Sunday School Class, long time board member of the Whittier Methodist Foundation, the YMCA Travel Club, the East Whittier Womans Club, City Beautiful and Audubon Society.
On March 3, 2015 in Fullerton, California Ruth passed away at the age of 101 with her family by her side. She leaves behind her two children: Nancyb (Rich) Warner and Randy (Renee) Jordan, four grandchildren: Nathaniel (Nelly) Warner, Rebecca (Jared) Schaefer, Adrian Jordan and Elliott Jordan, and nine great-grandchildren: Michael, Jonthan, Eowyn, Keldon, Caleb, Elaina, Liam, Joel and Keith.
