Cherished and beloved mother and sister, Roxanne Perry passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on April 6th. Her strength, courage, and positive outlook on life never faltered through every hardship she faced in her 79 years of gracing this earth. Roxanne was not only victorious by living by her own law, she inspired others to embrace the beauty of life and the power of love. Fiercely independent and hardworking, she prided herself as a single mother and in her career as an Administrative Assistant for Oakite, Pizza Hut, and Downey medical offices and later as a caretaker for children and the elderly. She never quit and never gave upwhich culminated in her final very active years which was not bad for an old person of living her life to its fullest. As a testament to her strength, for over 10 years before her passing, Roxanne worked as a housekeeper for long time local clients who embraced her as part of their family.
Roxanne and her husband, Walter J. Perry Jr. moved from Chicago in 1973 with their two small daughters to pursue their dream of living in California and raising a family. They settled in Hacienda Heights where Roxanne was very active in the Italian Catholic Federation, for which she served as President for 13 years just prior to her death. After divorcing in 1977, she was an active member of Parents without Partners and Majority of One.
Roxanne would light up every room with her incredible style and her vivacious and outgoing personality. She would rally and organize everyone around her to enjoy and experience life by attending plays, concerts, movies, art exhibitions, and anything that would make an ordinary day into and extraordinary adventure. A lover of ancient Egyptian art, Bichon Frises, anything colored purple, Italy, Elizabeth Taylor, and a glass of white zinfandel, Roxanne is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne and Kristen and her two younger sisters, Eileen and Anita as well as her extended family: Stuart, Sally, Mike, Diane, Don, Bea, Kevin, Kim, Johnnie, The Freemans, the ICF, and much-loved neighbors and friends.
Mass service in memoriam will take place on Saturday, May 19th at St. Denis Catholic Church in Diamond Bar at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to the Roxanne Perry Scholarship Fund: Make checks payable to St. Denis ICF Branch 317 and mail to Pamela-Anne Roemer ICF Scholarships 29 Meadow View Drive, Philips Ranch, CA 91766.
