Rose Cosio

Rose Cosio was born in Los Angeles, California, on April 18, 1936, to Ramon and Ramona (Bravo) Cosio. She passed away on her 81st birthday, April 18, 2017, in Whittier, California.



Rose grew up in Los Angeles and went to Garfield High School. From her marriage to Gonzalo Monje, she was blessed with her eldest son, Steven. Rose was also blessed with two children, Barbara and Michael, from a second marriage to Leo Villalobos. She leaves behind her children, Steven (Ana) Monje and Barbara Ledesma; her sister, Rebecca Hash; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren who lost a huge part of their hearts with her passing. Sadly, Rose was preceded in death by her youngest son, Michael Villalobos, on September 28, 2014.



Rose was a Nurse for 27 years, working at Beverly Hospital and Cigna. She touched many lives with her huge, generous personality and bright smile. While at Beverly Hospital, Rose worked with her future daughter-in-law, Ana Monje. Rose's heart was big enough to share her love with her family and the many friends that she met along the journey of her life.



A lover of music, Rose played it loud and proud, especially Engelbert Humperdinck. The kitchen was where the magic happened; from her potato salad, enchiladas, mole, green salsa, pozole, and tamales to those yummy cinnamon Christmas cookies. They will all be greatly missed. Rose once said, 'My secret ingredient is the oil in my hands: Love.'



Her favorite color was purple, pictures all over her walls were her joy, and spoiling her grandchildren was her everything.



Rose's faith in God and Jesus kept her strong until the end. Heaven is a brighter place now; it is filled with Rose's laughter and beautiful Soul.

Viewing will take place from 12noon 3pm on Friday, April 28, 2017, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, California. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3pm.
