Rosalie Eleanor Nerio

Rosalie Eleanor Nerio, born on September 21, 1944, Los Angeles, California, passed away on May 3, 2024, in Whittier, California. Rosie is remembered for her loving and caring nature, as well as her of character. She was surrounded by family and close friends who prayed for her peaceful transition to Heaven.

She worked alongside her husband at their family business, Mission Market, before pursuing a career at Sears in Los Angeles. Once she had children, Rosie dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, actively volunteering at her children's school as a Room Mom and Den Leader. Later in life, she returned to school, earning her certificate in Child Health and Education from Rio Hondo College, allowing her to work in local child day care centers.

Rosie's hobbies reflected her joy in life; she loved swimming, playing outside with friends as a child, and enjoyed baking, cooking, and crafting with her children as a mother and grandmother. Family gatherings, road trips, and excursions to the casino brought her much happiness. Even as a senior, she cherished conversations on the phone and writing and receiving letters from loved ones.

Rosie’s remarkable memory made her an excellent storyteller, and she had a rare ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, quickly turning strangers into friends. Her kindness meant that she was always willing to help others, even if just in small ways.

Rosalie Nerio is survived by her siblings: Donald Meyer and his wife Carolyn, Dorothy Allen, and Carolyn Loya. She leaves behind her children: Genevive Nerio Castillo and her husband Dominic, Arthur Nerio and his wife Suzanne, and John A. Nerio. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jillian Barger and Scott Barger, Lauren Renee Smith and James Smith, Jamie Alexandria Castillo Ramahi and Safadyn Ramahi, Nicholas Anthony Castillo Castro and Marisa Castro, and Luke M. Castillo. Her great-grandchildren include Brigham Michael Barger, Ellie Renee Barger, and Anita Rose Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Anne Meyer, her husband Nicholas C. Nerio, her siblings Joan Garcia and Joseph Meyer, and her daughter-in-law Connie Nerio.

A memorial service will be held on September 18, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the White Emerson Mortuary located at 13304 Philadelphia St, Whittier, CA 90601.

Funeral Mass will be held the next morning, September 19, 2024 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual help at 8545 Norwalk Blvd, Whittier, CA 90606
