Roberto Reuben Garcia was born to Carmen Martinez on March 8, 1927, in Los Angeles, California. He passed away on February 10, 2012 at the age of 84.Roberto grew up in Los Angeles, California, and attended Lincoln High School and the Cosmotology School of Los Angeles.Roberto proudly served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.He married Lillian Jean Moore in Las Vegas, Nevada.Roberto was the son of one of the founding citizen's of the famous 'Olvera Street' in Los Angeles, California.Following his graduation from high school, Roberto obtained his barber's license.After serving in the Army, he co-owned a barbar shop in Pico Rivera, California.He and Lillian raised three sons and one daughter.Roberto was a sports enthusiast, a U.S. war history enthusiast and collector of vinyl records.He belonged to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was a VFW member.Roberto is survived by his loving wife, Lillilan; son, Al Chavez; son, Rick Chavez, and daughter, Lilly Vining, along with grand children and great grand children.Visitation will take place on Monday, February, 20, 2012 from 6- 8pm, with Rosary at 7:00pm.A Mass for Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 8545 S. Norwalk Blvd, Los Nietos, California, 90606, 562-692-3758.
