Robert Jonathan Munguia

Robert Jonathan Munguia was born on August 23, 1986, in Los Angeles California, to Nadine Munguia and the late Ralph Munguia Sr. He attended Pioneer High School in Whittier from 2000-2004. 

Robert is survived by his mother Nadine and siblings: Christopher Munguia Sr., Steven Munguia, Alexander Munguia, Ralph J. Munguia Jr., Megan Joanis, Andrew Slane, and Elizabeth Herrera. Robert was delighted in being an uncle to Zoe, Christopher Jr., Sofia, Jacob, Joaquin, Ella, Briella, Benjamin, Elijah, and Ralph Joseph III.

It is challenging to summarize in a few paragraphs the impact Robert had on his family. He enriched and demonstrated to them that being different does not mean you are less of a person. Robert unknowingly inspired them to go forth and spread this message. He was childlike at heart and reminded everyone to appreciate the little things in life. Disneyland, Dodger Stadium, and the Los Angeles Kings game were some of the places where he enjoyed being himself. He loved to go for car rides with any of his family members; from down the block to get one of his Diet Cokes at the gas station to Las Vegas where he enjoyed the sights and sounds. Robert was diagnosed with cancer in August 2024. He loved life and fought hard during his chemo and radiation treatments. On December 16, 2024, he would take his last breath surrounded by loved ones as his battle with cancer came to an end. 

Robert’s family will see to it that his love for life and kindness will live on to share with others. He was a remarkable individual whose journey was marked by resilience, courage, and an extraordinary capacity to bring joy and inspiration to those around him. Though marked as “special needs”, Robert’s life was a testament to the human spirit's strength and the profound impact of love and acceptance.
