Robert M Wienke

Robert Rob McAlpine Wienke was born on April 21, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry Richard and Julia Theresa (McAlpine) Wienke. He was one of six children. After a few years in the Chicago area, the Wienke family moved to Franklin Lakes, New Jersey where Rob was raised until the age of 7. At 7, his family made the move to Barrington, Illinois for a few years and finally settled in Chatsworth, California. Rob graduated from Chatsworth High School in 1973 and later attended Pierce Jr. College, San Jose State, and College of the Redwoods and graduated from Humboldt State University in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Resources Engineering. While attending Humboldt, Rob met Suzanne Shelton, a fellow engineering student.



The two were married in 1985 in Buena Park, California and made Whittier their home. Rob continued his studies with post graduate education at Loyola Marymount University and received a Master of Science in Engineering in 1991. The couple raised two children, Sarah and Rebecca.



Professionally, Rob became a registered engineer and was an enforcement officer and supervising engineer with the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts; a job he retired from after 29 years.



Over the years, Rob acquired many hobbies. He was an excellent golfer and for the past 8 years was a member at Friendly Hills Country Club; this was a goal he was very proud to achieve. His other interests included working on his familys house, from rebuilding the kitchen to maintaining the house; his handy fingerprints can be found throughout the Wienke home. Rob also loved motorcycles and recently took a three week trip across the western states on his Harley.



Rob passed away suddenly at the age of 58 in Whittier, California on December 28, 2013. He leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Suzanne, his two daughters, Sarah, 25, and Rebecca, 21, his sisters Kathryn Stobert and Julie Constance Wienke, two brothers, Richard and James Wienke, his mother-in-law Annette Shelton Willis, and many friends and relatives. Rob was predeceased by his parents and his brother Kenneth Wienke.



A memorial service will be held at Friendly Hills Country Club on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 12:00pm. 8500 S. Vallaverde Drive Whittier, CA 90605
