Robert Cavazos Lozano passed away on January 31, 2024 in Hacienda Heights, California at the age of 96. He was born on August 6, 1927 in La Feria, Texas and was a longtime resident of Whittier and Hacienda Heights, California. He was predeceased by his father Porfirio Lozano and mother Virginia Cavazos Lozano. After Harlingen High School, he enlisted to serve his country, like his brothers, in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in Samar, Philippines and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii during his duty.
After his military duty in 1948, he returned to Harlingen, Texas, where he met his wife Isabel Chamberlain, the love of his life for 74 years. They were married on January 10, 1950.
While living in Harlingen he was employed by the Harlingen Metropolitan Water Company as a meter reader until he moved and settled his family in Whittier, California in 1962. Henceforth, he worked continuously as a machinist building custom-ordered tools and parts in a machine shop in Sante Fe Springs, California until it closed and he retired.
After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and longtime friends from Texas, on cruises and throughout the United States. He was an avid cook of Mexican foods and barbeques, which he enjoyed preparing for his family and friends. Robert enjoyed also casinos, horse racing and playing the weekly Super Lotto, even if he did not win, he was a man of hope.
Robert, is survived by four children, Irene L Hinojosa, Robert Lozano, Cythnia Llanes, Deborah Rosas Palacios and two siblings, Elida Rojas of Claremont, California and Alice Morris of Temecula, California. Among his survivors are 10 Grandchildren, 25 Great- Grandchildren and 10 Great- Great Grandchildren. In addition, Robert had one deceased son, Edward Lozano, one Grandson and one Great-Grandson.
Since the family’s move to Hacienda Heights’s, CA in 1973, he was a parishioner of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He looked forward to Sunday masses and communion. As his health and vision declined and could not drive, he enjoyed mass and listening to scriptures on the television, if there was no one to drive him to mass. But often he was seen in his wheel chair with his daughters at Sunday mass.
Robert will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.
A viewing will be held 9:30 am on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. John Vianney Church with a Rosary starting at 10:30 am. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am followed by interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
