From fighting fires to swing dancing, and constructing buildings to creating inspired cuisine, Robert (Rob) Denney was a force to be reckoned with. Robs thunderous presence and wry humor brought tears and smiles, while his thoughtful words and gestures warmed the heart.
A jokester by nature, Rob was certainly entertaining. But this in no way diminished his protective core and drive to care for his family, friends, fellow human beings, and animals.
After years of being chased, Krista Lesa accepted Robs proposal of marriage, culminating in an unforgettable Lake Havasu rockabilly spectacle on October 10, 2015. Rob and Krista resided in their Echo Park and Lake Havasu homes with their pit bull rescues, Bugsy & Lola, two lavish gourmet hounds. In addition to being a cherished husband, Rob was a respected and beloved member of Mohawk Bends Restaurant staff, where he thrived and began to make a difference in the Echo Park Sunset Boulevard food scene.
Robs sons Cody and Kyle were the jewels of his eyes. They are handsome, sharp, caring, and tenacious, pursuing their school courses and military service ... with careers in medicine on the horizon. Robs fond memories include making them lunches and waiting at the school bus, playing occasional pranks, and teaching them to fish.
Rob was proud of how Jackie raised his boys and remembered fondly the years they had once shared, which included a step-daughter, Michelle (another family member dedicated to military service), and her daughter Jackie.
At a profoundly meaningful time in his life, Rob found inner peace and understanding through his spiritual group (the Lodge) and teachings.
Rob is also survived by his father James, mother Margaret, son Robert Jr., daughter Nikki, grandson Daniel, sister Amy, and aunt Patty.
Rob was born October 3, 1969 in Baldwin Park, and he passed away at age 48 on November 28, 2017. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL. When I meet him again, hell introduce me to his beloved Nana and Papa, take my hand, switch on some music, and well Hand Jive the night away.
