Rita Lynn Strout

Rita Lynn Strout was born on January 2, 1946 In Brooklyn, New York, to Oscar and Ruth (Bausch) Visnes. She passed away on November 21, 2016, in La Mirada, California, at the age of 70.



Rita grew up in Brooklyn, New York, until 1959, when she moved with her mother and siblings to California. She completed her high school education at Huntington Park High School.

On January 28, 1966 Rita was married to Gary Phillip Strout.



She is survived by her children, Tammy, Gary and Aaron and siblings; Bonnie, Linda, and Gregory; Grandchildren, Aiden, Caleb, Colin and Oliver; daughters-in-law, Claire and Jennifer.

Rita had a large number of nieces and nephews, 12 in total, and over 18 great nieces and great nephews.



Her first job was at Sears and Robuck where she worked for more than 23 years in the accounting department. She also worked for the Montebello Container Company, and finished out her career at the City of Whittier in the accounting and payroll department.



Rita was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Whittier, California; a Republican; was in Women's Leadership; Sons of Norway and Stephens Ministry.
