Richard Med Cayer

Richard Med Cayer was born on January 12th, 1969 in Monrovia, California to Richard and Carole Cayer. Richard, also known as Richie or Rick, grew up in Monrovia with his two sisters, Cindy and Tori.
Rick was always very athletic. He began playing soccer at a young age and showed great potential early on. He was given the opportunity to play in Switzerland and Denmark at age 12. He continued to play soccer and was part of the cross country team at Cal Poly Pomona.
Rick excelled in schooling and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Masters Degree in Special Education. Professionally, Rick worked as a Special Education teacher in the Norwalk/La Mirada School District teaching middle school students. In his 16 years there, he was deeply loved and respected by the staff, the students and their families. He will be remembered for his soft yet encouraging demeanor.
In October of 1997, Rick married Elizabeth, Liz, Moran. The couple settled in Pico Rivera/Whittier area and had two children, Ryan (12) and Rylie (8). To say Ricks kids were his life would be an understatement. He faithfully attended his daughters performances and loved coaching his sons soccer and basketball teams.
Rick had many hobbies and excelled at many things; he loved trivia, collecting baseball cards, discovering new restaurants with his family and had a passion for all types of music.
On Sunday, April 5th, 2015 Rick passed away suddenly at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, California. His is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Liz, his two children, Ryan (12) and Rylie (8), his older sister, Cindy Cook, his younger sister, Tori Cena and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
There will be a viewing held at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier, California on Thursday, April 16th, 2015 beginning at 5:00pm and a Rosary service beginning at 7:00pm. The Mass will be held on Friday, April 17th, 2015 at 11:15am at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Whittier, California, followed by burial at Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia, California.
