Ramon L Ybarra, affectionately known as Ray, passed away on January 1, 2024, in Whittier, CA. He was born on May 20, 1933, in Kernse, Texas. Ray was a loving and caring individual with a compassionate heart. His warm personality shone through his every interaction, and he had a gift for captivating people with his remarkable storytelling ability.
Ray was a proud Korean War veteran and recipient of the United Nations Service Medal. He also received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars for his dedicated service to his country. His military career was a source of great pride and honor to him.
After completing his military service, Ray pursued a career in welding at Norris Industries. As an ambitious individual, he sought to expand his skill set and constantly strove for personal growth. His dedication and hard work earned him the position of Hydraulics Foreman at Norris Industries, where he spent 30 years before retiring.
Outside of work, Ray had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending time immersed in its beauty. He had a particular fondness for camping and made cherished memories with his loved ones at his vacation home in Lake Isabella. The tranquility of the outdoors brought him joy and solace.
In his leisure time, Ray delighted in watching National Geographic and the History Channel. He treasured learning about different cultures, exploring the wonders of nature, and delving into historical events. These hobbies allowed him to satisfy his curiosity about the world around him.
Ray's passion for life extended to home-cooked meals shared with family and friends. Gathering around the dinner table brought him immense happiness as he relished not just the food but also the company and conversations that flowed freely.
Ray took great pride in his beautiful family. Carlos, Richard, Ana, and Susana were his children with his first wife Christina, Jason, his beloved son from another relationship also held a special place in his heart. Ray found immense joy in watching his grandchildren Joseph, Autumn, Veronica, Ashley, and Raymond grow. Additionally, he was blessed with great-grandchildren Eli, Brandon, Isaac, Cailin, Logan, Jaylee, Samantha, and Jaxon.
Ray's passing leaves behind a void in the lives of many. He is survived by his beloved wife Hasmig, who shared in his joys and supported him through every endeavor. Ray's sisters Anita Bojorquez, Amelia Ortega, and Alejandra Pena will forever cherish their bond with him. His mother Fernanda Landeros and father Alberto Ybarra were instrumental in shaping his character and values.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 16th, 2024 at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier, CA. The service will commence at 10:30 AM to honor the memory of this remarkable individual. Following the Memorial Service, Ray will be laid to rest at Los Angeles National Cemetery during a Burial ceremony starting at 1:30 PM.
Ray touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind cherished memories of love, laughter, and wisdom that will forever be etched in our hearts. In celebrating his life, let us remember the immense impact he had on those around him and carry his spirit of compassion and storytelling forward.
