Rachel Beatrice Perez was born April 13, 1933, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Joseph M. and Sarah C. Martinez. She passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, in Los Alamitos, California.
Though she spent her first years in Nebraska, Rachel moved to California as a young girl. She attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles, California. She also went on to earn a nursing degree and a degree in Business Administration.
Upon completing her education, Chicago, Illinois became her new home. Rachel worked as secretary to the infamous East Chicago Mayor, Robert Pastrick. In her later years, Ms. Perez moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Her family moved her to Southern California when her health began to decline.
Rachel enjoyed bingo, dancing and traveling, and she was devoted to her Catholic faith. While in Las Vegas, she attended St. Anthonys Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Diane (Ben) Sabori and Gail Worrell; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
