Phyllis Mohr, born on March 21, 1935, in Ethan, South Dakota, passed away with family by her side. She proudly graduated from Ethan High School in 1953. She married Dewayne Mohr in 1955. Together, they welcomed five children into their lives, beginning in Sheldon, Iowa, and later making their home in California. Phyllis was married for 41 years until Dewayne's passing in 1996.
After living on Archway Drive in Whittier for 62 years, Phyllis moved to Park Regency Retirement in January 2024. Throughout her life, she was deeply involved with Saint Gregory the Great Church and School, offering her time and talents to the Women’s Council and various fundraising events. Her commitment to service was evident as she also worked at an income tax office and a marketing research company, demonstrating both her dedication to her community and her family.
Phyllis cherished the moments spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing Bunco and was a devoted fan of the Dodgers, attending games whenever she could. Her legacy lives on through her 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Kevin Mohr and Janet, Deborah Mohr, Paul Mohr and Carlene, Denise Cunningham and David, and Scott Mohr and Phallyka. Her grandchildren include: Kirsten Everett-Sharpe and Shane, Kevin Andrew Mohr, Kimberly Matharoo and Prabhjeet, Christina DeCastro and Gairad, Daniel Mohr, Chelsey Mohr, Michael Cunningham and Alexandria, Nicholas Cunningham, Christian Mohr, and Collin Mohr. Her great-grandchildren are Nora Everett-Sharpe, Ava Everett-Sharpe, Kellian Matharoo, Grayson DeCastro, and Evelyn Cunningham.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewayne Mohr, and her grandson, Thomas Mohr.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 12:00 noon at St. Gregory the Great Church, located at 13935 Telegraph Road, Whittier, CA 90604, with a decade of the rosary preceding the service at 11:45. Following the mass, a graveside service will take place at 1:30 PM at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2161 Fullerton Road, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, with a reception immediately following at the cemetery.
Phyllis will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her church, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
