McMillan, Lida C. 'Peggy' Born 9-12-1926 at Murphy Memorial Hosp. to Clifford J. & Lois Juanita 'McCoid' Horton in Whittier CA. Predeceased by her parents and husband Hugh J. 'Mac' McMillan, brother Clifford J. (C.J.), sisters Lois Elizabeth and Dorys J. King, daughter Mary Alice, son-in-law John D. Carr and great granddaughter Emma Catherine Greenlee. Gone from life, 3-27-2012. Survived by her brother James A. Horton (Erika Opper), daughters Lois C.(Arnie) Maldonado, Cecilia L. 'Cel' Carr, Theresa A. 'Terri' McMillan, and Linda M. (Walter) Torres, sons Francis J.(April) MacMillan and Daniel J.(Theresa Rivas) McMillan all of Whittier. Sons Hugh C. 'Chuck' (Lynn) of Ballwin, MO and John C.(Janet Lopes) McMillan of Carmichael, CA. and daughter Lorie Rose (Jeff) Morris of Vancouver, WA. with 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, plus many 'adopted' kids and grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins. Peggy was written up by the Whittier Daily News in September 2001 for her many years of walks into Turnbull Canyon while picking up trash and recyclables to help keep her beloved canyon clean. Formerly a member and Past-President of the Whittier branch of the American Legion Post 51 auxiliary and a founding member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Whittier. Vigil Service will be 8:15 p.m. Monday, April 2nd at Saint Bruno's Catholic Church near Santa Gertrudes between Lambert Road and Whittier Blvd. Funeral Mass 10:30 am Tuesday, April 3rd at St. Bruno's with interment afterward at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Whittier Area Literacy Council, P O Box 917, Whittier, CA 90601.
