Paul Jess Bernal

Paul Jess Bernal was born on October 22, 1964, in Los Angeles County, California, to Benjamin and Valentina (Watkins) Bernal. He passed away June 12, 2015, in Lynwood, California.



Paul grew up in LA County and graduated from Lynwood High School. Following graduation he went to work where he could find it. His last job was loading trucks. At the young age of 26, Paul was struck by a drunk driver while riding his bicycle. He suffered paralysis and many other physical challenges throughout the remainder of his life, but he never lost his kind and loving nature. He loved his familyhis parents, siblings, and his son, Benjamin, who was named after his father.



Music was one of Pauls favorite passionsespecially Rock and Roll. He was an accomplished bass player and was in several bands during his youth. He was also a gifted artist. He will be remembered for his kind, friendly, outgoing personality, which contributed to his popularity as a young man. He was also very generous.



Paul is survived by his son, Benjamin Bernal; sisters, Yolanda (Richard) Gunderson, Elsa Gutierrez and Julia (Tom) Serrato; and his brothers, Daniel (Lisa), David, and Frank Bernal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Valentina Bernal; and his nephew, Rey Cruz Lucero.



Private services will be held and interment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
