Patricia L. Scheifly

Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Patricia Lenhart Scheifly, 86, passed away on December 29, 2012 in Fullerton, CA. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia on March 30, 1926 and was one of two daughters of JC and Alice Lenhart. She graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1947.



She and John were married in 1947 in Huntington and moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1952. In January of 1955 they were fortunate to move to Whittier where they raised their children, John Edward Scheifly, Jr. and Jan Scheifly Sprague.



Pat and John enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world and a yearly trip to Hawaii.



Pat was an active member of the community, volunteering and serving in many organizations, often as President. She was deeply involved with Whittier Area Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club, DAR, Whittier Area Panhellenic, Special Childrens League, Friendly Hills Womans Club, National Charity League, National Assistance League, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital Foundation, Whittier Historical Society, Alumnae Advisor at USC, USC Pi Beta Phi Sorority and PEO Chapter CU. She and her husband were founding members of the Los Angeles Music Center.



Since 1999 her focus and devotion have been to the development and opening of the Patricia L. Scheifly Breast Health Center at PIH. She was very proud of the success and continued updating the state of the art equipment currently in use.



Pat will always be remembered for her sense of humor, very generous spirit and charitable heart, love for her children and grandchildren, and her unconditional love for her partner in life, John. Predeceased by her husband John Scheifly, she is survived by here two children, John Scheifly, Jr in Menlo Park, CA and Jan Sprague in Brea, son-in-law John Sprague and grandchildren; Kevin Sprague, Kyle Sprague, John Scheifly III, and Samuel Scheifly.



There will be a Celebration of Life at the Patricia L. Scheifly Breast Health Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital Foundation or Patricia L. Scheifly Breast Health Center, 12401 Washington Blvd, Whittier, CA 90603.
