Norman M. Johnson was born on June 1, 1929 to parents Anderson Johnson and Lulabell Heater-Johnson in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Norman grew up and attended school in Vanceburg, Kentucky. For several years he worked on the railroad until he joined the United States Army in 1948 at the age of 19 where he fought in the Korean War. In 1957 he moved to California where he started his business, Complete Parking Lot. Soon thereafter he received his contractors license. He was married for many years to Digna Maria Salas, later they divorced, but they always remained good friends. Norman was a great salesman. He loved to gamble, sing, play his guitar and listen to country music. He also enjoyed cooking and eating Skyline Chili. Norman Johnson had five siblings: sisters Maxine Douglas, Betty Johnson-Laymons, and Virginia Johnson, and brothers James Johnson and William Johnson. Of his siblings, Norman Johnson is survived only by his brother William Johnson. He is also survived by his four children: Norman Johnson Jr., Charles Johnson, Cynthia Johnson-Gomez, and Robert Johnson. Norman is also survived by his granddaughter Alyssa Brianne Gomez.
