Nilo Bracci

February 1, 1933 — October 31, 2015

Nilo Bracci, 82, passed away on October 31, 2015 at his home in Hacienda Heights.



Nilo was born on February 1, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois to Arbace and Mini Bracci, immigrants from Lucca, Italy. He had two older brothers, Sergio and Silvano. The family moved to El Sereno, California in the early 1940s, when Arbace went into business with his brother-in-law.



Nilo attended Woodrow Wilson High School, graduating in January 1951. He served in the Army from March 1953 until March 1955 and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. He was a combat construction specialist he was in charge of the dynamite! He served 6 years in the Reserves and was granted an honorable discharge in March 1961.



Nilo began working with his dad and brothers in El Sereno at the family business, Progressive Art Products. They manufactured plaster of Paris home dcor. Their shop was a few houses away from their parents home where the 3 brothers were able to walk for a home-cooked lunch daily.



He met Jackie Stevenson in 1955, and they were married 6 months later on January 14, 1956. They had their first apartment in Alhambra and bought their first home in La Puente. They had 3 daughters, Julie, Janet and Jeanne. The family moved to Hacienda Heights in December 1968.



Nilo enjoyed playing golf and socializing with his many friends. He loved serving God and has been an usher at Whittier Area Community Church for many years. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family - he would take his wife, daughters and their families on a summer vacation every year.



He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Jackie; his daughters and their husbands, Julie & Kelly Wilson, Janet & Bill Bumstead and Jeanne & Lawrence Fawcett; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his brother Sergio and his sister-in-law Josephine; and numerous nieces and nephews.



A Celebration of Nilos life will take place at Whittier Area Community Church, 8100 Colima Rd., Whittier, CA, on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 12:00 noon.
