Nicholas M. Reyes, III, was born April 23, 1975, in Los Angeles, California, to Nicholas Jr. and Rita (Dieguez) Reyes. He passed away on February 22, 2017, at the age of 41, following a long battle with kidney failure.
Nicko, as he was known, grew up and went to school in South El Monte, California. He attended Don Bosco Tech, but later transferred to and graduated from Mountain View High School in South El Monte. He continued his education at Pasadena City College. Professionally, Nicko worked as a telecommunications technician for AT&T until his health prevented him from working.
Generous, funny, loving, and respectful all describe Nicko. He was a loving son, a wonderful brother, a doting uncle, a devoted friend, and a cat lover. He most enjoyed spending time with his family especially his niece and nephews. Video games, Star Wars, Game of Thronesanything to do with war craftcaptured Nickos attention. He also had a love for cars and owned a tricked-out 66 Mustang. He enjoyed taking it to car shows.
Surviving Nicko are his parents, Nicholas Jr. and Rita Reyes; sisters, Lisa (Gerardo) Paz and Vanessa (Eric) Sandoval; niece, Appolonia; and nephews, Santino, Mateo, and Benicio.
Viewing will take place from 5-7pm on Friday, February 24, 2017, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, California. A Vigil will immediately follow at 7pm. Mass will be celebrated at 10am the next day, Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Epiphany Catholic Church, 10911 Michael Hunt Dr., South El Monte, California. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2161 S. Fullerton Rd., Rowland Heights, California.
