Nicanor Mariano Rivera was born on May 27, 1931 in Pasay City, Philippines. He attended Arellano University for two years and professionally worked as a forklift operator for a number of years.
On August 29, 1979 Nick married Cynthia Cullado in Long Beach, California and resided in La Mirada, California.
Throughout his life, Nick had many interests. He enjoyed watching baseball, particularly the Dodgers, gardening, making leche flan and bowling. In fact, he was a member of a bowling league and became known for a certain trait - humming while bowling.
On September 8, 2015, at the age of 84, Nick passed away in Fullerton, California. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cynthia, his six children: Vangie, Nick, Bee, Ariel, Rowena and Kenneth, 13 grandchildren: Raymond, Lisa, Paul, Kelly, Chris, Phil, Jane, Edward, Erin, Jeremiah, Caleb, Jude and Jet and 15 great grandchildren: A.J., Alan, Bree, Dominic, Matt, Danica, Lauryn, Jayden, Dylan, Tyler, Juliana, Emma, Mason, Elijah and Jordana.
A viewing will be held at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 12:00-3:00pm, with a funeral service at 3:00pm. The graveside service will take place on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10:00am at Olive Lawn Memorial Park in La Mirada, California.
