Rita Mendoza was born July 29, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, to Jesus G.and Julia (Espinoza) Delgado. She passed away on September 28, 2012 at the age of 66.
Rita grew up in Santa Fe Springs, California, and attended Jersey, Lake Center schools and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1964.
She married Jimmy Mendoza in Los Nietos, California on February 6, 1965. Their love affair lasted 47 years!
Rita lived a life of service to other. She had the amazing ability to accept everyone for who they were. She was always helping others and would pray for everyone. She was a faithful Lakers (go Kobe!) and Dodgers fan. Rita had a strong faith and attended Crown of Glory Church in Whittier, California, where she served others for 31 years - 'Well done good and faithful servant'!
Rita is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy, and children, Yolanda Sevillano, Yvonne Guzman, Jesse Mendoza, Jimmy Mendoza, Arlene Cordova, Anthony Mendoza; her mother, Julia Delgado, brothers: Robert, David and Anthony Delgado; sisters: Esther Luna, Lilly Lona and Rosemary Ontiverias; grandchildren, Mark, Chantel, Raquel and Isaac Sevillano; Robert, Christopher, George and Joshua Guzman; Briana and Mark Cordova; Melissa, Alissa, Anthony and Isaiah Mendoza; great grandchildren, Lewis Alaman and Dalilah Sevillano; and sons-in-law, Mark Sevillano and George Guzman. Rita was preceeded in death by her father, Jesus Delgado, and her sister Dorthy Lopez.
A public viewing will take place on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 5-8pm at White Emerson Mortuary Chapel. A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, October 6, 2012, 11am, at Good Shepherd Family Bible Church, 6712 Washington Ave., Whittier, California. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California
