Lillian Juanita King, 93, passed away at her home in La Mirada on Saturday morning, February 1, 2014. Born in Los Angeles, California on April 28, 1920, Lillian was born to Alexander & Esther (Padilla) Arguello. She was a loving wife, a proud mother, and a dear friend. She will be deeply missed.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Lillian attended Roosevelt High School where she was described as a very social student. She made life-long friendships at that high school whereby she would meet with alumni from her graduating class every year until the year of her passing. She attended East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, as well as Cerritos College where she received training in Real Estate. She was a real estate agent, among other vocations, for over 10 years. Early on in life, Lillian was married to Walter Talsky with whom she had two daughters. Lillian and Walter were divorced, and she was later married to Kenneth King. Together with Kenneth, she had 3 more children.
In 1977, Lillian and Kenneth moved to La Mirada where they attended Beatitudes of Our Lord Catholic Church. Lillian loved her parish and was deeply committed to her worship there. A few of her interests included gardening, dancing, travelling and crocheting. It should be said though, that in her later years, Lillian was most passionate about her volunteer work. Her volunteerism included work with the Sierra Madre Girl Scout Council where she was a girl scout group leader; ushering at the La Mirada Community Theater; assisting the La Mirada City Council after her husband Kenneth passed away (1999); and even working with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, of which she was involved for 50 years. Needless to say, Lillian always kept herself busy. Her children recall her always saying, Live life to its fullest!
Lillian is survived by her children Carol Hooper, Douglas King, Terry Quintana & Judith Kretschmar; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; and three daughters, Lorelei, Wendy & Esther.
