Elizabeth S. Olsen, 89, passed away in Whittier, California on Sunday, December 7, 2014. On April 19, 1925, Elizabeth was born in Roy, Utah to her parents Arthur & Thelma (Russell) Summers. She was married to Donald Mervin Olsen on November 26, 1949 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and together with her husband they had one daughter, Geraldine. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
As a young girl, Elizabeths father worked for Union Pacific, which prompted her family to move quite frequently. Growing up she lived within different communities of both the states of Utah and Idaho. She graduated from Thomas High School in Idaho before going to work for Union Pacific in Pocatello. Upon moving to Southern California, she worked for Santa Fe Railroad before being married to her husband, Donald. Once married, Elizabeth dedicated her full attention to her role as a homemaker, wife, and mother.
Elizabeth had many interests in life, including dancing, bowling, and golfing. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nothing meant more to her than time with her family. She always enjoyed playing family games and time spent with her grandbabies.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Donald M. Olsen; her daughter, Geraldine A. Jones; three grandchildren, Daniel E. Jones, Julie E. Zarvos, and Christina A. Christensen; five great-grandchildren, Kristian D. Jones, Eliza J. Jones, Dorian B. Zarvos, Kailey E. Zarvos, and Ace M. Zarvos; and her sister, Marjorie L. Olsen.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15265 Mulberry Dr., Whittier, California. A Viewing will be held immediately prior to the funeral from 10:00AM 11:00AM at the church. Interment will take place at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California on Monday, December 22, at 10:15AM. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.WhiteEmerson.com.
