Bertha Barbara Kaiser, 101, passed away peacefully in Whittier on the evening of June 2, 2014. Born in La Salle, Colorado on November 29, 1912, Bertha was born to Henry & Alice (Ming) Zeller. Bertha was married to Jake Kaiser on April 2, 1934 and together they had five children to which Bertha gave each a special nickname; Dolores Lemley Lolly, Kenneth Michael Sonny, Bertha Barbara Suzy, Kathy Ann Juna Bug, and Alice Elizabeth Winnie.
Bertha was a devoted woman. She was always on the go getting things accomplished. As nicknames were special to her, she herself earned the nickname Roadrunner from her children; her daughter, Alice, recalls that when she was ready to leave the house, she would give a short forewarning, then be on her way quickly thereafter, regardless of who was ready. As a young girl, Bertha only completed 8th grade, however, later on in life, she was devoted to completing her High School Diploma which she earned at the age of 60. She always had a passion for teaching and helping children. These skills not only came in handy with her own kids, but she also taught in the Montebello School District for over 20 years. She lived a long and prosperous life, and will be missed by her family.
Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Jake Mike Kaiser, her son, Kenneth Michael Kaiser, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Dolores, Bertha, Kathy, and Alice; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
