Adele M. Messei was born in Lucca, Italy, on December 5,1932, to Orlando and Gemma (Giusfredi) Cima, She passed away on October 18, 2013 in Whittier, California at the age of 80.
Adele spent her early years in Lucca, Italy and completed her elementary schooling. At the age of 13 she began to cook for families and friends which resulted in a life long love of cooking.
She was married to Alvaro Messei in 1951.
The family moved to the United States in 1966 and settled in Whittier, California, where they raised their family.
In addition to being a homemaker, Adele worked for 23 years in the garment industry as a seamstress.
She enjoyed going to casinos, taking care of her husband, spending time with the family and watching the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, as she watched them she would yell at Kobi Bryant - in Italian!
Here three favorite television shows were, The Price is Right, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. While those show were on the family knew not to interrupt her as she was focused on the shows.
Adele loved her family and took joy in being with them.
She is survived by her children; Daniela Munoz, Patricia Hernandez and Steven Massei, along with 6 grand children and 10 great grandchildren.
A vigil will be held on Thursday, October 24. 7pm at St. Bruno Catholic Church, 15740 Citrustree Road, Whittier, California 90603.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 25, 2013, 10am at St. Bruno's Church.
Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 4201 Whittier Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90023.
