Mr. Lee Holt Kirby

January 6, 1934 — February 12, 2013

Lee Holt Kirby was born on January 6, 1934 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to James and Nellie (Lee) Kirby. He passed away on February 12, 2013 at the age of 79.

As a young boy, Lee moved with his family to Detroit, Michigan, where he grew up and went to school. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge.

Following his discharge from the military, Lee moved to Los Angeles, California. He met the love of his life, Graciela Estrada, while dancing at the Palladium Ballroom in LA. They were married on January 14, 1961 in Los Angeles, California. They made their home there until moving to Whittier, California in 1979.

Lee's occupation was that of roofer contractor and his hobbies included fishing, gardening and animals. He was known as the 'cat man of Whittier' as he would often care for strays.

Lee also greatly enjoyed dancing.

He was a good mechanic and a Mr. 'fixer' for his family and friends. With a good sense of humor, he displayed a positive outlook on life.

Lee is survived by his wife, Grace Kirby; daughter Cheryle Lynn Hardin; sister, Joan Kirby Hunter and a dear sister-in-law, Adelina 'Lilly' Stevens.
