Mr. John W. McMichael

John W. McMichael was born on April 2, 1926, in Puente, California, to Ralph and Elizabeth McMichael. He passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 in Covina, California, at the age of 87.



John was born and raised in Puente, California. He attended Hudson Elementary School, which was across the street from his home and graduated from Puente High School.

One day after his graduation John joined the United States Navy and served our country for two years.

Upon his released from the Navy, he attended Mt. San Antonio College and was in the first graduating class, earning his AA degree.



John married Violet Hochhalter in January of 1955 in Huntington Beach, California.



He was a painter for 35 years for the Los Angeles County Public Works Department, of which he was very proud.

His life also revolved around Calvary Baptist Church, where he was in charge of the maintenance and served as a Deacon and Trustee for the church. He had a special calling to care for missionaries around the world and was a member of Wycliff Bible Translators and was on the board for missionaries in Korea.

He also enjoyed family camping and bowling.



John is survived by his wife Violet, and daughters, Connie Ward (Dennis), Gail Haug (Bill) and Esther Corey Renee (Mike Faitel).

He has 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his son John.



There will be a public viewing and visitation on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, 4-8pm at White Emerson Mortuary Chapel, 13304 E Philadelphia Street, Whittier, CA. 90601.

A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, 11am at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.

Following the graveside service there will be a Memorial Service, 1pm at Whittier Hills Baptist Church, 16153 East Russell Street, Whittier, CA. 90603
