James Jay Hancock, Sr., 68, passed away at his home in Corona, California on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Born on September 29, 1944, James was born to Gordon & Myrtis (Wilhite) Hancock in Los Angeles, California. On November 17, 1965, James was married to Donna Lee McManus in Whittier, California and together they had three children; Meleah, Tawni & James Hancock, Jr..
From a young age, James was a hard working man. Growing up he received many awards and honors during his high school years. He attended college for a time before becoming a warehouseman in the electric industry.
He loved music; for many years he was a bass-guitarist and singer in his very own country-music group. He was also a devout Methodist throughout his life.
James is survived by his wife, Donna L. Hancock, his three children; Meleah M. Zarate, Tawni L. Fickes, and James J. Hancock, Jr., his siblings; Howard Hancock, Earl Hancock, Laurel Lynn Gordon, Margie Stinston, and Johnny Watson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 2:00PM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, California 90601.
