The entire Russian-American community mourns the passing of the multi-talented Igor Khramov who was one of the founding members of the 'Limpopo' band and principal musician & director of the group. From a young age, Igor had a passion for music. He attended the Gnesinykh
Musical College in Moscow, Russia, and as a musician, he played the trombone, tuba, guitar, balalaika, euphonium, sweet stick and percussion. He began his band in Moscow in 1986, touring the former Soviet Union, and performing in some of its most famous theaters. When the group was at its peak, Igor and Yuri Fedorko, the other original member of the band, immigrated to America. In 1991, they reformed as 'Limpopo' a four-member folk and comedy group. In 1993, the group competed and won the Ed McMahon Star Search band competition. Competing and winning numerous other competitions and accolades, he continued to be instrumental in 'Limpopos' success at various clubs and festivals throughout the US and Canada. Igor's talent and energy resonated on stage and he and his band mates were always a big hit at various festivals, including the Cotati Accordion Festival, and was a favorite at the annual Russian Festival at the Russian Center in San Francisco where they recently performed for the 25th anniversary of the Russian Festival in February.
Along with his love for music, Igor loved the outdoors, and was also an avid fisherman, enjoying deep-sea fishing in Baja Mexico.
