Anthony DiCataldo, Jr., 71, passed away on February 20, 2013 at his home in Whittier, California. Born on March 24, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey, Anthony was the son of Anthony & Mary (Underhill) DiCataldo. Anthony was married twice and had six daughters, Denise, Monica, Toni, Valerie, Christine, and Samantha.
After growing up in Newark, Anthony joined the United States Navy as a young adult. During his duty, he served tours in Japan, Hawaii and many other places. One of his greatest claims was that he was aboard the ship that the movie, The Wackiest Ship in the Army (starring Jack Lemmon & Ricky Nelson) was filmed; He can be seen in the background of one of the scenes of the movie.
Once discharged from the military, Anthony settled in southern California since 1960. He came to work in the grocery industry as a meat-cutter, and was involved with the Meat Cutters Union. One of his passions was Baseball. He loved going to Dodgers games with his daughters, and he even helped build the Softball Field at Los Altos High School. He loved fishing and was also an avid prankster.
Anthony is survived by his daughters, Denise DiCataldo, Monica Fitzgerald, Toni Lidtke, Valerie Torres, Christine Frembling, and Samantha Laws; his grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Emily, Alyssa, Shaun, Jeunae, George Jr., Valerie, Nicklos, Daniel, Mary, Brianna, William, Stacy, Anthony and Elijah; and his great-grandchild, Ares Erives.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 3:00PM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, CA 90601.
