Morrell Hyatt Nowers

June 10, 1939 — June 12, 2013

Morrell Hyatt Nowers was born June 10, 1939 in Beaver, Utah, pop. 1600, to Clistie Hyatt and Wilson Gates Nowers. He was their youngest of three children; his sisters are Enid Fotheringham and Dorcus Bowler. He also had a half-brother, Edward Wilson (Ted) Nowers who preceded him in death.

He enjoyed doing all the things there were to do in a small town like Beaver, which was not much. There was no TV, no golf course, and no mall. They did have a movie theater that changed the movie three times a week but he didnt always have the fourteen cents it cost to buy a ticket so he listened to the radio a lot helping him to develop a good imagination.

He graduated from Beaver High School in 1957 and went immediately to Salt Lake City to get a job. He stayed there a year then came to California where he lived the rest of his life. He worked in the swimming pool industry for 35 years where he was affiliated with the International Laborers Union. After he retired, he worked for the next 15 years for two building contractors who were friends and enjoyed the opportunities he had with them.

In 1960 Morrell married Sue Anthony. They had six children; Natalie, Nathan, Evan, Erin, Meghan and Amelia. Meghan predeceased her family. He also leaves behind five grandchildren; Haili Nowers, Emily Nowers, Olivia Bretzing, Archie Bretzing and Auggie Bretzing.

After a fifteen year battle with Congestive Heart Failure, and more recently liver and kidney failure, he lost his valiant struggle peacefully, with family members at his side on June 12, 2013, after celebrating his 74th birthday with family and friends.

Morrell has looked forward to being reunited with his daughter Meghan for thirty-five years; they are now together again.
