Miyoko Hosono Bolles

Miyoko Hosono Bolles was born in Tokyo, Japan, on November 1, 1930, to Genzo and Eiko (Kikuchi) Hosona.

Miyoko Hosono Bolles passed from this life on March 30th, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born the second of four sisters in Tokyo to a devout Buddhist family. She met her husband, Ralph Edgar Bolles, at the Army Corps of Engineers offices, where she worked as an interpreter and secretary to Ralphs boss. Their first date was at the opera Carmen and music forged a lifelong bond between them, as did their newly found Roman Catholic Faith. They married at St. Ignatius Church, Tokyo, on October 9, 1955 and settled in LaHabra, where they raised their seven children. Miyoko earned a Bachelors degree at California State University Long Beach, taught at Rio Hondo College, and pursued export and educational consulting businesses while raising her family. She served Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in the Mission Circle and Gloria Dei choir. One of her fondest pleasures in serving the Church was singing together with Ralph at the Sunday mass.

Miyoko is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ralph; two of her sisters; her infant son, and infant granddaughter. She is survived by her sister, seven children and their spouses, and seventeen grandchildren.
