Miguel G. Pena

Miguel 'Mike' Pena was born on November 14, 1928 in Michoacn, Mexico to Ismael and Serafina Pena. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at his daughters' home in La Mirada, Ca., on Monday, February 20, 2012. Mike lost his battle of cancer after just 5 months of being diagnosed.On September 19, 1953, Mike married Petra Pena in East Los Angeles, Ca. They made their home in Santa Fe Springs, Ca. where they raised their four daughters.Mike was a believer of hard work and dedication. He was a very humble and loving person and always thought of others before himself. He worked as a clay pipe maker before retiring after 30 years at Pacific Clay Products in Santa Fe Springs, Ca. Mike enjoyed his gardening and found his serenity in planting his favorite remedies, yerba buena, sugar cane, papaya, chilis, and lemons. In addition to his remedies, he loved planting all types of roses, hydrangeas and cactus. He landscaped for over 50 years. Mike loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Petra Pena, of 59 years; four daughters, Mary Helen Baca, Vicky Bejarano, Corrina Delgado, and Marie Nava; son in laws, Leo Baca, Adam Nava and Art Bejarano. Mike was blessed with nine grandchildren, Kechia Zosa, Leo Baca Jr., Alfred Acosta III, Monique Delgado-Ortiz, Cynthia Delgado, Kechia Bejarano, Matthew Nava, Gabriella Bejarano and Jacob Nava. He was also blessed with six great grandchildren (pets), Tickles Baca, Brownie Delgado, Charlie & Bella Delgado-Ortiz, Summer Nava and Whiskers Baca. He is also survived by his siblings, Victoria Pena, Elena Pena, Cuca Pena, Maria Pena, Lucha Pena, Otilio Pena, Javier Pena, Simeon Pena and Hilario Pena. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ismael & Serafina Pena, sibling, Socorro Sotelo and son in law, Robert Delgado Jr.He would have not wanted us to grieve, but remember the fond memories that we made and shared with him.
