Mary Eileen Tracy, 89, passed away on May 6, 2012 in Whittier, California. Born in Los Angeles, California, on August 27, 1922, she was the daughter of David F. Gleeson of Coachford, Co. Cork, Ireland, former president of Ancient Order of Hibernians of Los Angeles, and Nora M. English, of Anglesboro, Co. Limerick, Ireland.Eileen graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Inglewood, California, in 1939 at the age of 16. She attended Southwestern College, and worked at North American Aviation throughout the war years.In 1948, she married Milford E. Tracy, Jr., a World War II field artillery captain decorated for meritorious service during the Battle of the Bulge.They moved to Whittier, California, in 1950. He was manager of the Supply and Exchange Department at Richfield Oil Corporation and Arco.He passed in 1995.Eileen joined the Whittier Public Library in 1968 and was a much loved children's assistant librarian until her retirement in 2000.She was president of the historic Women's Club of Whittier at the timie of its dissolution in 2008 that included a six-figure donation from the Club's ending reserves to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital.She was also an active member of St.Mary of the Assumption Church in Whittier for 62 years.Eileen was an enthusiatic traveler, avid bridge player, and looked forward to all family related activities.She is survived by her loving children, Scott (Mary) of La Canada Flintridge; Mark (Alda) of Pasadena; Patricia (Larry) Fink of Brea; Ellen (Mike) Ferguson of Ketchum, Idaho; Jill (Ed) Valcarcel of Capitola; and Joseph (Reggie) Tracy of Palo Alto; two brothers, Tom Gleeson of South El Monte and Jack Gleeson of Mission Viejo, along with 12 devoted grandchildren.
