Mary Catherine Gorski

Mary Catherine Gorski ne Mitchell, 87, residing in Canyon Country, CA, passed away September 25, 2015.

Mary was born in Philadelphia, PA, where she attended John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School. After graduation, Mary worked as a secretary for J. E. Lonergan Co. in Philadelphia until her marriage to John (Jack) Gorski in 1951 and they moved to Merchantville, New Jersey. In 1957, Mary and Jack, along with their four children, moved to Woodland Hills, CA where two more children joined the family.

Busy with raising her family, Mary still found time for volunteer activities with the Sisters of St. Louis and other organizations and was always active in her local parish church. She and Jack moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1982 following his job transfer where they eventually retired..

Known to all by her grandchildrens name for her, Mre, she brought love and light and joy into every life she touched. She endured two strokes within the past two years before God called her to Him.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John G. Gorski, daughters Rosemary (Ron) Lieberman of Carlsbad, CA, Eloise (Dennis) Branden of Williamsburg, VA, sons David (Robin) of Canyon Country, CA, Gregory (Elizabeth) of Whittier, CA, Matthew (Catherine) of Belmont Shore, CA and daughter Nancy (Steve) Margolis of Westlake Village, CA. In addition to eight grandchildren and three great-grandsons, Mary is also survived by her brothers John, Charles and Richard Mitchell and a sister, Alice Diven.

A true original, there will never be another as sweet, funny, kind and gentle as our dear 'Mre.' We will forever remember her as simply the best there ever was.

A Rosary followed by a Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015, at 10 AM at Beatitudes of Our Lord Catholic Church, 13013 Santa Gertrudes Ave, La Mirada, CA 90638.
