Marsha Jean Douty

Marsha Jean Douty was born October 3, 1955 in Whittier, California to Joseph and Laura (Gifford) Thomas. She passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at her home in West Covina, California.Marsha grew up and went to school in Whittier, graduating from Whittier High School. She went on to Rio Hondo College and later earned her Bachelor's of Nursing at Cal State University LA.On August 19, 1978, Marsha married Russell Charles Douty in Whittier, California. They made their home in West Covina, California where they raised their two children, Shannon Kay and Christopher Russell. Mrs. Douty loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She is survived by her husband, Russell; daughter, Shannon Kay (Wade) Jackson; son, Christopher Russell Douty; and grandson, Wyatt Jackson.Marsha was a giver--she spent her life serving others. In addition to her career in nursing, Marsha volunteered with the American Red Cross. She assisted with several Disaster Relief missions including local home fires and major disasters in and out of state. The last few years Marsha volunteered at her church as a Parish Nurse. It was a real blessing to her to be able to serve.Marsha will be remembered and admired for her love for God and her devotion to Him. She touched many hearts and exemplified the love of Christ.A Memorial Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the College Avenue Church of the Nazarene, 8221 S. College Ave., Whittier, CA 90605. Private interment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
