Maria Theresia Smith

Maria Smith passed away on December 4, 2022 in Loma Linda, CA at the age of 86 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 3, 1936 in Huntington Park, CA and was a long time resident of Downey, CA. After graduating from Whitney High School, she continued her education at East LA College where she earned her Associates degree in Art.
After college, she met and married the love of her life, Glenn Smith, on January 28, 1961 at St. Matthias Catholic Church. They started their life together and welcomed two children along the way. Maria worked part time as a commercial artist for many years and full time as a Mother.
Maria loved people and they loved her too! She had a way of making others feel special and important. She enjoyed art, doing crafts, talking politics, playing cards, listening to music and spending time with her family and friends.
Maria is survived by her two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Children: Jeff (Bertha) Smith and Lisa (Mark) Santos. Grandchildren: Holly (Scott) Ducharme, Jayna (Terry) Barnhouse, Chase Santos, and Kiley Santos. Great-Grandchildren: Glenn Barnhouse and Eleanor Barnhouse.
Services will be held at White Emerson Mortuary on Monday, December 19th. The viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., funeral service at 10 a.m., and interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 2 p.m.
