Maria Jimenez was born on September 15, 1940 in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. Natividad and Margarita Gutierrez raised her, her two brothers, Victor and Antonio, and her sister, Martha in Leon.
Growing up she became friends with a young boy named Miguel Jimenez. As time went on, their friendship blossomed into a romantic adventure. On January 16, 1960 Maria and Miguel embarked on their 53 years of marriage. They would start a family consisting of eight rambunctious children: Miguel, Maria, Jose, Ernesto, Marco, Lety, Gerardo, and Araceli. This was just the start to her big family. Maria's children would bless her with a total of 22 grandchildren in 2013. Of course she would strongly encourage for this number to increase.
Throughout her years she exemplified the ideal characteristics of a woman. Kindhearted, loving, patient, wise, strong willed, straight forward and supportive are just a few words used to describe her beautiful soul. From talent shows, soccer and basketball games, family events and award assembly's Maria was her entire family's number one fan.
One of Maria's great talents has always been cooking. From tortas to tamales her food always warmed our souls. When she was not cooking or excelling in her homemaker role Maria would spend her time doing activities she loved. Such as traveling to Cancun, Dominican Republic, Hawaii, or visiting her hometown. One of her all time favorite past times was accompanying her husband to local casinos.
In the early morning of May 29, 2013 Maria entered the gates of heaven. She went home to be with The Lord, her brother Antonio and mother Margarita. She leaves behind her husband Miguel, eight children, 22 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, her brother and sister, and many nieces and nephews. We come together today to celebrate her wonderful life.
