Luz Ramos Cabel

Luz Ramos Cabel, 85, passed away on December 17, 2013 in Long Beach, California. Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Luz was born on February 9, 1928 to Valerio & Concordia (Cayetano) Ramos. She was married to Patrocinio Cabel in May, 1945, and together they had five children, Edwin, Louella, Patrocinio, Maritess, and Edward.



Luz grew up and attended school in the Philippines. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Northwestern University in Laoag City, Ilocos Region, Philippines before becoming a teacher for over 20 years. She loved sewing, baking, knitting and especially shopping. She was very devout in her faith as a Catholic, attending St. Marys of the Assumption Church in Whittier on a regular basis.



Luz is survived by her children, Edwin (Evelyn) Cabel, Louella (Thomas) Baird, Patrocinio (Sanita) Cabel, Maria (Basem) Gerges, and Edward Cabel; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Mary Anne, Ryan, Cheisa, Jonathan, and Christine; and great grandchildren, Carmela, Future, Legend, Kenneth, and Cerenade.



A Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 2:00PM 8:00PM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, CA 90601. A Vigil Service will be held at 6:00PM that evening. The Graveside service will commence at 2:00PM on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, CA 90601.
