Lucille Marjorie Huckfeldt

November 8, 1922 — January 1, 2015

Lucille Huckfeldt is the dearest of persons and deeply loved. She was born on November 8, 1922 to Amy and Clarence Holmes in Kansas. She entered eternal life on January 1, 2015. She and her husband Dale were married 68 years until his death in November of 2010. They had one daughter Marjorie Crowel who is married to Robert Crowel, her son-in-law. Lucille's grandchildren were Dale, Louis, David, Marty and Margie Allee. She never missed a music program that any of the grandchildren performed. Her step-daughter was Dee Dee MacLean. Her great-grandchildren were from the marriage of Louis and Darci Allee. They are Lucy (her name sake), Joey, Wynnie, Lily, and Penelope Allee. Her step-great-grandson is Shawn MacLean.

Lucille gave years in service to her work at the family store, Huckfeldt Furniture of Whittier. She showed extreme courage as the store was demolished after the Whittier earthquake and the business moved three times as it reestablished in uptown Whittier. She was a music coordinator at church, led the boys quartet, sung the alto part in a trio, a choir member and a Sunday school teacher. Along with Dale her husband who was head usher they were among the charter members of Whittier Area Baptist Fellowship. This was after years of helping establish Bethany Baptist Church. Later on they had dear friends at Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton and enjoyed the Sunday school class there. She taught Marjorie, her daughter, piano from age 3 years on and gave piano lessons to all five grandchildren in their youth. Professionally her greatest love and her love returned was her piano teaching of many adults and children. She loved each moment with her students. She had many students and in the past had outstanding music recitals in her home. She awarded her students with trophies and ribbons.

Her friendships were valued and meant so much to her. There were many social occasions in her home. She had an amazing skill in knitting and needlepoint. She was excellent in photography and an outstanding cook. Her cake decorating was beautiful and she often made the grandchildren birthday cakes. She had exceptional holiday events for the family including a yearly Thanksgiving feast. Christmas celebrations were full of decorations and gifts.

Lucille was very close and happily married to her husband Dale. She was a loving and faithful wife. She kept a lovely home. At one point they enjoyed a second vacation home in Crestline and later in Palm Desert. To her husband she was the light of his life. To her daughter she was a deeply loved and respected friend and confidant. She and Marjorie talked often and she listened well. Dale and Lucille supported Marjorie by giving her a college education and semester in Copenhagen, Denmark which led to a special time at Christmas there as a family. They were well traveled. She showed love to her son-in-law Bob by wanting to hold his hand and they always shared words of love and appreciation which was a blessing to him. She was cherished for her Christian example and a person who helped others. She showed one how to try to do your best always. She was very generous in gift giving. She enjoyed pets very much.

Lucille was always nicely groomed and very pretty. She endured illness bravely. Marjorie cared for her in the family home for several years with grandson Dale assisting often. Marjorie and husband Bob cared for her in their home for a time and visited daily when she resided in skilled nursing. Her grandson Dale visited frequently. Those visiting from Evangelical Free Church such as Shirley and Harold Johnson and her long time piano student Jackie Burns were encouraging to her as they often contacted or visited. The prayers of friends and family have been appreciated very much.

She is a dear part of our lives. God has her in His care as she knows Him personally as her Savior. She is in Heaven with our loving Lord. Our mom, grandmother and friend will be remembered as a true Christian Lady. She will be greatly missed and always loved and remembered.

She is safe in the arms of Jesus.
